Methodology (as of Oct 31, 2026)

Problems come from public posts across a growing list of subreddits. Repeats are grouped, and each problem is scored with our scoring rubric, which weighs the number of posts, engagement and recency. Ranks are daily snapshots, and “unique problems” means distinct problems seen in any snapshot during the month. A problem's category is its category on the last day it appeared. Rank-based figures (fastest risers, top problems, top score) use ranks recomputed from each post's Reddit upvotes and comments for Oct 23–30, 2026; our daily lists for those days were ordered by feed position, not votes. Oct 21, 2026 and Oct 22, 2026 are left out of rank-based figures because we could not recompute them; problem counts and category shares use every day. This edition uses 11 daily snapshots (Oct 21, 2026 to Oct 31, 2026).
